Commercial & Government Moves – Kristin - FAQs
What types of commercial and government moves do you handle?
We manage everything from office relocations and departmental moves to data center shifts, medical facility transfers, and government agency re-locations. For government clients we also handle compliance, household goods for transferees, and mission-critical asset moves. Our goal is to be a full partner, not just a truck.
How far in advance should we plan a move?
It depends on scale and complexity. For smaller office moves you’ll want a few weeks. For large government assignments, data centers or full site re-configurations, planning can take months. Because we’ll coordinate logistics, regulatory compliance and scheduling, the earlier you engage us the smoother the outcome.
What is included in your project-management service for commercial/government moves?
We provide a dedicated move manager (single point of contact), detailed planning, scheduling, asset inventory, packing/crating, transport, set-up at destination and post-move follow-up. For government work we also include entitlement counseling, pre- and post-payments, claims processing and compliance with relevant regulations.
How do you minimize business or mission downtime during a move?
We build phased schedules, coordinate with your internal stakeholders, use experienced crews and specialized equipment, and work during off-hours if needed. For government and mission-critical assets we emphasize contingency planning and real-time monitoring. Such practices help ensure operations resume with minimal interruption.
Do you provide storage and staging services for commercial/government assets?
Yes. We have secure, climate-controlled warehouse space suitable for furniture, equipment, trade-show displays, IT hardware and more. We can stage items before or after delivery, giving you flexibility if your new location isn’t ready.
How do you handle IT, data center or specialized equipment moves?
We have experience relocating sensitive assets like server farms, medical labs or high-value electronics. That includes careful de-installation, specialized crating, transport planning, re-installation and post-move testing. We recognize that equipment integrity and continuity matter.
Are you equipped to handle government-specific regulations and contracts?
Absolutely. We participate in government programs like the General Services Administration’s CHAMP for household goods, and we understand FTR/JTR compliance, entitlement management and other regulatory requirements.
How do you estimate cost and plan budgeting for a large move?
We start with a site survey or virtual consultation to understand what’s moving, the distances involved, special equipment/timing, storage requirements, and destination conditions. From there we build a customized estimate that reflects the scope. Because every move is unique, we avoid “one size fits all” pricing.
What happens if there is damage or delay during a move?
We follow documented processes for claims and settlements. Our move manager stays in touch throughout, so you’re notified of any delays or issues immediately. We carry appropriate insurance and monitor risk. Our aim is to deliver on-time and intact, but we also build in safeguards just in case.
How do you ensure security and confidentiality, especially for government or sensitive moves?
We use vetted crews, secure transport, tracking, controlled access to our facilities, and we can implement discrete scheduling for sensitive moves. For government work we adhere to required secure handling protocols and chain-of-custody where needed.
What are your geographic capabilities for commercial/government moves?
We serve the Virginia-Maryland-Washington, DC tri-state area and beyond. Whether you’re relocating within the region or across the country, we have the infrastructure, trucks, logistics and local knowledge to support your move end-to-end.
How do I get started with your team for my move?
Reach out for a consultation. We’ll schedule a call or site visit, assess your needs, answer your questions and provide a proposal. From there we’ll work with your project team to define scope, schedule and cost. Starting early is beneficial because we can lock in resources and avoid last-minute complications.
