Martin Army Community Hospital Project at Ft. Benning

Management, assembly & installation of over 44,000 assets.

Martin Army Community Hospital at Ft. Benning was undergoing significant change. The expansion project would double the size of the medical facility, nestled in the side of a hill on a 65-acre site designed to promote healing.

The Project

The need to provide quality healthcare to the community of soldiers, families and local veterans is great – and Martin Army Community Hospital answers that call every day. The goal of the project was to double the area’s medical capacity to provide inpatient, outpatient and ancillary medical services for more than 75,000 beneficiaries.

During the 11-month construction phase, all equipment needed to be stored safely and securely – everything from desk chairs to surgical equipment and high-tech low voltage technology.

The Execution

Interstate’s expertise in healthcare and government logistics proved crucial for its role in logistical support and asset management for 70 inpatient beds, 16 clinics, six operating rooms and a pharmacy. A team of 23 full-time, on-site Interstate professionals supported this project.

  • Management, assembly and installation of 44,000 assets, valued at $38 million.
  • Provided 25,000 square feet of climate-controlled warehousing space to safely store  assets of all shapes and sizes.
  • Coordinated distribution of assets once the new facility was complete.

“Interstate Logistics has once again played a major role in the success and on-time completion of a General Dynamics Health Facility Initial Outfitting and Transition Project. The Ft. Benning project is the third major hospital project that General Dynamics Information Technology and Interstate have partnered on.

Logistics’ planning for the delivery of over 44,000 pieces of new equipment and furnishings began October 2012 and the hospital opened precisely on the scheduled date in November 2014. Interstate’s distinct 3PL capabilities have been a significant factor in the successful opening of this next generation of military health facilities.”
