Move with Confidence
What is a data center migration?
Essentially, a data center migration is when a data center is moved to another location. This process includes systematically disassembling (when necessary), transporting and reinstalling computers, servers, racks and other technology and data equipment into its new location, be it a new building across town or a new floor or room in the same building. Though this includes a physical move, data center relocation also includes logistical and operational complexities that need to be addressed long before the servers are loaded into a truck.
How do you safely transport a computer?
Part of this question relies on the size of your computer. A laptop can be moved easily, whereas larger computers that makeup server rooms and data centers require significantly more care, planning and security.
As a general IT rule of thumb, anytime you plan on doing anything major with your computers, it’s always a good idea to back up your data to one or more locations. Once that’s complete and your computer is ready for the move, packing your computer and its peripherals in secured, protective wraps and cushioning and anchoring it to your transportation vehicle is the best way to transport large, sensitive and expensive electronics and technology.
Is an office reconfiguration right for my data center?
Office reconfigurations are one of many important steps you can take to protect the health and safety of your employees during the coronavirus pandemic, particularly as your data center reopens and employees return to the workplace. Our experienced team of office moving professionals can help you reevaluate and reconfigure office floor plans, desk spacing and modular furniture to maintain physical distance between employees.
Other steps you can take include the placement of signs, decals and highly visible tape on the floor, placed 6 feet apart, to ensure compliance with social distancing guidelines when physical barriers are not possible.
